Good evening Nikki,

Make an effort to learn one or two new things a day. Frankly experimentation is a good thing. You won't break anything by trying. That cannot be fixed by restoring your phone from iCloud.

There is a lot to learn to be ultra proficient in all aspects of the iPhone. 

The basic gestures will get you around 90% of the applications. 

Some applications will have special gestures that you'll have to learn that are unique to them. 

Never give up. There's plenty of folks on this mailing list and many others that are more than happy to help a newcomer.

I've been an operating system software developer since 1967 and have spent most of my life with low vision. 

In mid January 2011 that all changed. My vision now is a tiny fraction of what it was on my good days and totally blacked out on my bad days.

Today I am mostly program software for Mac OS, iOS, and Linux.
