Subject: Seeking Blind & Low Vision participants for usability study

Hello David,

My name is Jess Buttimer, a usability research consultant with GfK Custom
Research ( <http://www.gfk.com> http://www.gfk.com).

I recently spoke with several individuals at the Visually Impaired Awareness
event at the College of DuPage, who suggested that we connect with you. We
are looking for willing individuals who are blind or have low vision to
participate in a usability study. I'm hoping you can help me, and my
colleague Kirsten Jerch, find willing individuals in the Chicago-land area.

Essentially, we will ask the individual come to our research facility in
downtown Chicago for a 2-hour interview. Each interview will be one-on-one,
as in one participant speaks with one interviewer. We will ask them to
demonstrate how they use Skype or Lync, and then ask them to complete a
series of tasks using either Skype or Lync with a given assistive
technology. Participants would be compensated $150.

Do you think you can help us find willing participants?

Below my signature is information about our study and a link to an online
survey that will collect preliminary information from interested
individuals.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. We are very excited to be a
part of improving communications tools for those with visual impairments!

Best wishes,

____________

Starting in mid-June and throughout the summer, the GfK usability research
team will conduct a number of usability tests with individuals who are blind
or have low vision and who use IM software to communicate with others.

By volunteering to participate in this research, you will have the
opportunity to influence changes in the way digital communication tools
support accessibility and universal design to allow people with disabilities
to communicate and stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues.
Major software manufacturers are making heavy investments to address
accessibility in communication tools across PCs, tablets, and mobile
devices, and this is your opportunity to have a voice in those changes.

We will be asking willing participants to come to a research facility in the
Chicago metro area for a one-on-one interview lasting approximately two
hours. Participants will be compensated $150 for their time.

Interested respondents are invited to provide some preliminary information
to the research team by filling out an online survey. Those who qualify will
be contacted directly with more details and to schedule interviews.

Please click the link below to be directed to the online survey, hosted by
Survey Monkey. The survey should take about 10 minutes. All responses to the
survey will be kept confidential by GfK, and only the immediate UX research
team will have access to them.

Thank you for your interest in helping to make communication tools
accessible and useable for all.

Sincerely,
