Dear Bob,
The strategies you suggested didn't work, but I finally figured it out! If
you go into JAWS on the desktop, there are several options listed. One is
Voices, which includes a Volume option. You can raise the volume with the
right arrow and lower it with the left arrow. Very civilized! Thank you to
everyone who responded with suggestions! There is always so much to learn!

The other replies you're getting about going to the control panel will work,
but there's usually a quicker way on laptops.
I have two laptops, an Asus and a Dell. On the bottom row of keys, on both
laptops, there is a "function" key in the keys to the left of the space bar.
On both laptops, the left-most key is the control key, and the one just to
the right of it is the function key.
So on the Dell, to raise the volume, you hit "function-page up." To lower
the volume, you hit "function-page down."
On the Asus, to raise the voulume, you hit "function-F12." To lower the
volume, you hit "function-F11."
If you have another brand of laptop, an HP or Toshiba or something, those
combinations above might not work. But surely, there must be some similar
combination that will work.

Are you using a desktop computer? Usually, your plug-in external speakers
have a volume adjustment on them.
Are you using a laptop? If so, there is a very quick way to change volume.
I have two different laptops, and it's different on each of them, but still
very simple.
Let me know what's your setup.

Subject: [il-talk] JAWS Question
This feels like a really silly question, since I've been a JAWS user for
more than fifteen years. Nonetheless, I'm asking. How does one adjust the
volume in JAWS? All of the explanations I've been able to find online seem
very complicated, and I am pretty sure there's an easy and straightforward
way to do it. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated!
