Mark your calendar for Tuesday February 10, 2015! It’s the date for the next Blind Service Association quarterly Dog Guide meeting. We are happy to welcome George Prescott, a representative of TSA from O'Hare International Airport, as our guest speaker.  Mr. Prescott, a 12 year veteran of TSA, will outline the changes made to the screening process at U.S. airports and the enhancements for travelers requiring special services. TSA has implemented a new service, Passenger Support Specialists, at most larger airports, and Mr. Prescott will be bringing a Passenger Support Specialist with him to outline specific services at Chicago airports.  During the meeting, travel related questions from the group will be answered by these representatives with the goal of promoting a better understanding of the necessary screening operations and how TSA can provide a better level of service to persons with visual impairments, including our dog guides.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was established by Congress in 2001 as a response to the orchestrated attacks of 9/11/2001.  TSA has been in-place at O'Hare and Midway since mid-2002 and has continually examined and enhanced the security process associated with aviation in order to make it more functional and at the same time, more focused on the needs of people who fly.
