National Geographic Kids now in braille!

Thanks to a partnership with the National Federation of the Blind and sponsorship by American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults, NBP is now producing and sending braille copies of National Geographic Kids to children all over the world! NBP produced over 3,500 copies of the December/January issue, the first ever braille edition! Each braille copy is transcribed, proofread, and collated by hand at NBP before they are sent out to kids to read.

Nancy Krumaker, parent of a braille reader, said, “We received a copy last week and my vision impaired, very resistant, braille reader just loved this book. She read it from cover to cover. Thank you so much for getting her to like reading.”

These braille magazines are free of charge through the American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults. Learn more about signing up here.

Because we read braille anywhere! Send us a photo of when, where, or how you read braille and be entered to win great prizes from NBP!

Contest begins January 17, 2017. Watch our website for official rules and information about entering.

National Braille Press will ‘flip the switch’ at the Prudential Center on Friday, December 30, for the 31 Nights of Light program. During the month of December, the Prudential Center is lit a different color every night to support Boston nonprofit organizations. At 5:00pm, the Prudential Center will shine blue and green lights to support NBP and its mission to promote braille literacy. The lights will continue to shine for NBP until December 31st.
