> Events Affecting CTA Service Beginning Weekend of 6/17 – 6/19
> Work on new Washington/Wabash station affects portion of Loop Elevated service; Addison Blue Line station closed for renovation work
> The Chicago Transit Authority is notifying customers of temporary changes to service, including a partial closure of the Loop elevated tracks this weekend due to construction on the Washington/Wabash station and a temporary weekend closure of the Addison Blue Line station as part of Your New Blue work.
> Separately, CTA is providing extra service for customers heading to events around Chicago, including the Windy City LakeShake, Copa America Centario and the WGCI Summer Jam.
> Customers should allow extra travel time and consider purchasing fares in advance via Ventrachicago.com or via the free Ventra app.
> Loop ‘L’ trains detoured due to closure of tracks along Lake and Wabash
> Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, June 17 until 4 a.m. Monday, June 20, the portions of Loop Elevated tracks along Lake Street and Wabash will be closed related to construction work on the new Washington/Wabash station by the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT). As a result of these track closures Brown, Orange, Green and Pink line trains will be rerouted as follows:
> Orange and Brown Lines: Trains will operate as one route, between Kimball and Midway, via Wells and Van Buren.
> Green Line: Trains will operate between Harlem/Lake and Cottage-Ashland/63rd via Wells and Van Buren.
> Pink Line: Trains will operate between 54th/Cermak and Downtown via Wells and Van Buren. Trains will begin/end their trips at Roosevelt station.
> Customers may transfer between the Loop elevated, and Blue and Red line subways at Harold Washington Library (Loop elevated) and Jackson (Blue and Red lines) stations.
> The closures will also be in effect the following weekend.
> Temporary weekend closure of Addison Blue Line station
> The Addison Blue Line station will be temporarily closed beginning Friday, June 17 at 10 p.m. until Monday, June 20 at 4 a.m. During this time, Blue Line trains traveling in both directions will bypass the Addison station.
> Free shuttle bus service will be provided between the Addison and Belmont Blue line stations throughout the temporarily closure. O’Hare- and Forest Park-bound customers at Addison can access Blue Line trains by taking the free shuttle buses to the Belmont station. Blue Line customers traveling to the Addison station will need to exit at Belmont and then transfer to the free bus shuttle.
> With the exception of customers who use the Addison station, Blue Line riders will see little to no impact to service this weekend.
> Extra Bus Service
> CTA will provide extra bus service this weekend to accommodate customers heading to and from the following events:
> 2016 Windy City LakeShake
> To accommodate those heading to and from Windy City LakeShake at Northerly Island this weekend, CTA will be providing extra bus service. CTA will operate extra service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express and the #130 Museum Campus.
> Copa America Centario
> To accommodate fans attending the Copa America Centario matches at Soldier Field, CTA will provide additional bus service on the #130 Museum Campus and #146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express routes for the Semifinals match on Wednesday, June 22 at 8 p.m.
>
> For both events, the extra service on #130 and #146 will run until approximately one hour after the events end.
> Customers also can travel to Soldier Field via Red, Orange or Green line trains. The Roosevelt station is located at Roosevelt and State, a few blocks west of the stadium.
> WGCI Summer Jam
> The CTA will operate the #19 United Center Express for customers attending the 107.5 WGCI Summer Jam at the United Center.
> #19 United Center Express buses will leave from Michigan and Randolph beginning at approximately 5:30 p.m. until approximately one hour after the event ends. Buses will await customers on the north side of the United Center eastbound on Madison near Gate 3.
> Rail Service:
> CTA’s Ashland/Lake station, served by the Green and Pink lines, is located a few blocks northeast of the United Center. Customers exiting at the station can transfer to #9 Ashland buses or simply walk a few blocks to the stadium. Customers taking the Blue Line can get to the United Center by exiting at the Illinois Medical District station and walking a few blocks north to the United Center.
