Tomorrow, the final vote will be taken. I have no idea what time, and
can't be there in any event. Given the Judiciary Committee's unanimous
support, I hope this legislation will be favorably considered and
enacted this session! All filed witness slips, including one by Ray
Campbell of the Illinois Council of the Blind, recommended passage.
Thank you all members of the Legislative committee and others who helped
identify and secure sponsors, contacted their respective senators and
representatives, completed Witness Slips through what was originally a
daunting process, and otherwise put us on the road not only to passing
this important legislation, but also reestablishing the NFBI's
relationship with the Illinois Legislature. This legislation is crucial
if we are to effectively propose or oppose legislation that enhances or
would restrict the independence of the blind.
