Thank you very much for meeting with me and other members of the National Federation of the Blind on Wednesday January 31st to discuss issues of importance to the blind. We appreciate your willingness to consider and discuss legislative initiatives that can, for little cost, greatly expand our access to information, thus enhancing opportunities for education, employment and participation in society. Thank you for your expressed willingness to share our concerns with Congressman Lapinski. Please extend our thanks for his consideration. In particular, we urge Congressman Lapinski to oppose passage of HR620, the ADA Education and Reform Act. While we are mindful of the legitimate concerns expressed by some constituents, we believe this legislation would undermine an act which has thus far benefited persons with disabilities and businesses in a way that does little to address those concerns.
