Hello:
I am a totally blind attorney, working in the criminal division of the United States Attorney's Office, in downtown Chicago. I am looking to hire a full-time assistant (typical business hours), with no requirement/opportunity for overtime; i.e., the work schedule is reliably constant. Duties include typical administrative tasks, such as keeping files organized and electronically filing documents on the court's online platform. And they include more blindness-related tasks, such as creating written descriptions of pictures and/or videos, ensuring the proper formatting of documents, and converting/retyping hand-written or other types of inaccessible text. Accordingly, applicants must be very comfortable working in a Microsoft-Office environment. Additionally, the job requires Scrupulous attention to detail and organization, and reliable attendance. Finally, due to the sensitive nature of criminal investigations/prosecutions, official applicants will be required to undergo a somewhat extensive background check.
Depending on the applicants prior employment profile, the job offers an annual salary in the area of $45,000, and the option of medical benefits.
Please do not post this notice anywhere else. Obviously, most persons on this list are blind, so you may share this information, but please do so discretely.
