[Jayhawk-chapter] FW: Nut Prices

Hello, listers!

A few months ago we suggested the possibility of our chapter doing a nut
sale this year. I have attached the price list from Farmstead Treats in
Overland Park and if you read below you'll get some more information which I
passed along to Jim Canaday last week.

Though Jim and I have different recollections about what the chapter
actually decided about a nuts sale, I'm wanting some action to be taken
fairly quickly if we do it. Other organizations in the area that sell their
products will be hitting the streets in the next couple of weeks and I want
us to be on a level playing field with them. If, for instance, I could come
to our meeting on the 18th with catalogs and order forms, we could get right
to work and there wouldn't be the delay there would be if we waited until
after the meeting to get stuff and then figure out a way to distribute it to
those selling.

I recommend we go with Farmstead Treats. The nuts are prepackaged in a
celophane bag with sturdy sealing. The nuts are high-quality and fresh. The
Pilot Club and the NFB Johnson County Chapter and other NFB chapters have
used them for years. We can save a ton of money by pre-ordering, then
picking up the nuts as we would not have to pay shipping; that is huge!

Jim and I would like you, chapter members, to take a look at this material
and then let the list know what you're inclinations are. If you're in favor
of us going further, Jim can call a board meeting this week and ask them to
take action. And if they approve, I can have catalogs and order forms at our
meeting on the 18th and we can get going with sales.

And I also suggest we start out with nuts only, although they have other
goodies, unless you want to jump in with both feet initially.

Thank you so much for your consideration. This really is the best option
I've seen; other companies had you packaging your own nuts or were locally
based companies and this one has a broad sales base.

If I can answer further questions, I'd be happy to do so. And if I don't
have the answer, I'll find it for you. Thanks again!
Best Regards,

	Hi, Jim:

I got a price list from Farmstead Treats via email today and I recommend
them. I think I can get transportation to pick up nuts.

I contacted Farmstead Treats in K.C. and am forwarding to you their order
form because it lists the wholesale and suggested retail costs of their
items. Jean Davis, the woman I talked with, suggests selling the nuts a
dollar above wholesale and said some groups go higher than that in order to
make a little more money. If nuts can be picked up, you avoid shipping cost.
I'm going to suggest that we collect our money with the order so we can pay
for the nuts so it won't be hard on the chapter treasury. She also said that
it's sometimes cheaper if you pick up midway through selling and at the end
so you're not overrun by nuts.

Let me know if you have further questions and I'll try to answer them.
The catalog will come next week and I can get more catalogs and order forms.
Would you like me to have these ready for distribution at the September
meeting so we can start selling?
Susan
Love,
Susan
