[Jayhawk-chapter] FW: NFB candy bars

Hi, Cindy.

I totally share your reservations about selling those candy bars at
national. Two years ago Susan and I shared a hotel room with Len and Meg
Silkey at the very same hotel we are heading for in ten days and got to hear
all about their frustrating experiences in trying to sell the candy. Much of
it melted and sales were very low, partly due to that problem and partly due
to the selling of all manner of snack foods at the convention by other
chapters and state affiliates. I also noticed 2 or 3 chapters from various
parts of the country selling the same product at the 2012 Washington
Seminar, and I suspect the same will occur at national convention. It is
never snide, sarcastic or obnoxious to raise logistical and practically
based concerns as to the time and place of sale of a delicate and
perishable food product. Take care and hope to see you in Dallas.

Regards,

Rob

Is this a box of bars you are wanting to unload at convention--left overs?
If it is, it would depend on how long you've had them, wouldn't it? You'll
have to take care they don't get hot, melt, and then get white. I am
guessing you already know these things, LOL. so I am sorry if I am being
abnoctious.

Hi All,

I agree that it would be best to sell them at $1 each, and re-evaluate the
chocolate bars as a fundraiser once we sell these. Maybe it would be easier
to sell them in the spring before it gets too hot? But the National
convention is such a convenient captive market!

Also, thanks for the good luck wishes for Luther in the Braille Challenge--I
will pass them on. If he places, he may be in the paper (smile). Should be a
fun weekend!

Hello Everyone:

It seems that few members are suggesting that we should sell these chocolate
bars for a dollar per bar for this time, my thoughts on this to sell then a
dollar each as indicated on the box and when we are through selling them we
discuss whether we would continue with this product for the part of our fund
raising project despite %40 profits or otherwise as Rob suggests; if we
decide to continue then we discuss whether we should raise the sale price.
What do you think?

Have a good week and stay cool.

Sincerely,

Chikako Mochizuki

Hello NFB Jayhawkers.

In view of the $1 price listed on the display boxes I am counseling us to
abide by the listed price. This will reduce our profitability from 50
percent to 40 percent, so I think it would behoove us to do a serious
evaluation as to whether we want to continue with this particular project
when our current inventory is nearing the end. Other thoughts?

Best regards,

Rob

Hi all:

Rob's secretary said that she thought she noticed a price printed last year.
Here is what she saw when she looked today. It doesn't mean that we're
bound to do as it says, but it may make it a little easier. Stay cool and
hydrated, everyone!

I did just look & on the display boxes it does say something like "$1.00
each, Profits go to selling organization."
