Here is an update on Tina’s condition that Lynda sent me. Lynda has been in contact with one of Tina’s friends.

> I just spoke with Roy, Tina’s running partner.  Tina was about a mile from roy’s house in Eudora when she was hit.  She is at Overland Park Regional trauma center, the closest trauma center to Eudora.  She was life flighted there.  People who saw it happen were able to do CPR until paramedics arrived which is probably what saved her life.  Tina had five hours of surgery yesterday and another five hour one today.  Her parents arrived at one o’clock this morning and have been at her side constantly ever since.  She is in an induced coma  and on a ventilator because she wouldn’t be able to tolerate the pain that breathing on her own would cause.  Her collar bone and all of her ribs were broken and her pelvis is crushed.  The liver was badly lascerated and her bladder was badly damaged as well.  For now, everything that can be repaired has been repaired but there is so much swelling that the doctors can’t tell everything.  There are multiple fractures to her face and they have been taken cqare of as best as possible for now.  Again, more will be able to be found out when the swelling subsides.  A Cat scan was done on her head and remarkably there is no brain damage.  Roy spent several minutes with Tina yesterday and today, letting her know that she is loved and how many lives she has touched.  Trainers from Guiding Eyes were scheduled to work with Tina and Clara tomorrow.  They arrived today and learned about the accident.  As far as Roy knows, Clara is with a childhood friend of Tina’s who is also blind and has a guide dog.  It is thought that being with another guide might be good for Clara.  Megan, one of her roommates has also been with Tina all day today and possibly yesterday.  That’s all I know.  Roy will keep me posted and I will keep you informed.  I have no recent  email from you in either of my inboxes.  Got to go, crying can’t type anymore.  Bye for now.
