This is a good article. I have done some gig work and liked the flexible schedule. I see a few disadvantages. I might be mistaken but I’ not sure if this work approach would be something a rehabilitation counselor would support. In my experience counselors have encouraged people to find fulltime jobs. Another disadvantage to gig work is that the individual would be responsible for any accommodations they might need like a computer, screenreader, or Braille display. People like me who have had work experience and own assistive technology are at an advantage. There might be implications for someone who isn’t on SSDI or SSI who needs health insurance and can’t afford it if they do gig work. I would like to do gig work again but may need to look for a fulltime job.

This is a good article. I appreciate how both sides are talked about.

There are so many benefits to those receiving SSDI, CDB, SSI and going the self-employment route. A great way to take advantage of the Plan to Achieve Self Sufficiency (PASS) or the Property Essential for Self Support (PESS) programs through SSA . Hope all take the time to read it.
