This is an interesting way for college students and others to get involved
in FEMA. Activities of this kind often result in jobs in the long run. It
beats heck out of sending out resumes. Thanks, Pam!

Dick,

Good afternoon. My friend at MD Department of rehabilitation shared this
with me and I thought the committee might be interested. It’s not a job
opportunity so I did not want to post it to the board myself.

See below.

Best,

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is committed to equal
opportunity and diversity inclusion while accomplishing our mission of
helping people before, during and after disasters. As part of that
commitment, FEMA will be celebrating National Disability Employment
Awareness Month (NDEAM) during the month of October.

This national campaign, led by the Department of Labor, raises awareness on
disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied
contributions of America's workers with disabilities. This year’s
theme is “*Increasing
Access and Opportunity.” *In support of NDEAM and FEMA’s efforts to become
a model employer for individual with disabilities, the Office of Equal
Rights will be hosting FEMA’s second annual Disability Mentoring Day.

FEMA would like to cordially invite individuals with disabilities from your
agency/university to attend our second annual Disability Mentoring Day.
Disability Mentoring Day promotes career development for individuals with
disabilities through practical career exploration with FEMA employees.

The 2020 FEMA Disability Mentoring Day will be held online through Zoom on
Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 9am – 2pm. Participants will attend a
virtual session learning about FEMA job opportunities, FEMA Core Programs
and then be paired with FEMA mentors in their desired career field or
occupation to learn a typical workday and identify necessary skills needed
to work for FEMA. It is my hope that this event will expose these
individuals to the wide range of career opportunities. Moreover, we will
learn how to integrate individuals with disabilities into the FEMA
community.

Attached to this email is a copy of Mentee’s application. Please have the
mentee fill out the application and submit no later than *Wednesday,
October 14* at 5pm EST. Due to the limited capacity for this event,
Disability Mentoring Day is first come first serve. Any mentee applying
after the deadline, may not be guaranteed to attend the Disability
Mentoring Day. If a mentee requires reasonable accommodation they can
identify it in their application.
