Requirement: Graduation from an accredited American Library Association college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science or an approved foreign credential evaluation.
Duties:  Under the supervision of the Assistive Resources Advisory and Outreach Center's (ARC/AOC) manager, the daily duties of this position require basic cataloging knowledge, experience with library automation systems, knowledge of digital library materials, excellent public speaking/presentation skills, and the ability to travel frequently across the Chicagoland area to attend events and give presentations. The Access and Disability Services Librarian will work in collaboration with the unit manager. Assists with developing, planning, promoting, administering, and evaluating the operation of the Assistive Resources Advisory and Outreach Center.  In collaboration with professional and para-professional staff, coordinate the development and implementation of a plan to design, promote, administer and evaluate programming and services for the disabled community, older adults and individuals with limited-English-proficiency.  Provides reference, referral, and readers' advisory services for patrons using reference resources, databases and equipment, and assisting patrons with locating resources, renewing items, placing holds and Interlibrary Loan requests.  Through extensive outreach, promote and market ARC services to senior citizens and persons with disabilities, as well as to families, care-givers, officials, and partner agencies.  Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with library employees, partner agencies and customers.  The Access and Disability Services Librarian has a pivotal role in learning the newest assistive technologies and is an advocate in their use.  Assists with analyzing and identifies significant trends and issues related to the disabled community and assistive technology.  Serves as the person-in-charge of the unit in the absence of the manager, and may supervise part-time staff.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
