MNIT's Enterprise Cybersecurity Team is seeking an experienced security engineer to support our enterprise Security Operations Center (SOC) and help build the systems that prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats targeting Minnesota systems and data.

The SOC Security Engineer (SSE) is part of the Information Security Incident Response Team (ISIRT) within the Information Standards and Security Risk Management (ISRM) Division within Minnesota IT Services (MNIT).  The SOC Security Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering portions of the Enterprise Security Program to state agencies within the executive branch.  The position will primarily be responsible for implementing, administering, and operating the state's enterprise security operations solutions including, but not limited to: security monitoring tools, security information and event management (SIEM), IDS/IDP, eDiscovery, endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), security case management, security orchestration and automated response (SOAR), and other security solutions as assigned.   The SSE helps to facilitate the collection of data from a variety of log-producing sources into the Enterprise Log Management system in the correct formats and providing this data in both human and machine-readable formats.  The SSE is also responsible for supporting incident response and reporting needs for the ISIRT team.

The SSE will actively engage members of the ISIRT team, other MNIT technical teams, and other business partners throughout the state to support operational security systems and services and assist with security monitoring and incident response in support of the enterprise security operations center.

2. Our "Minimum Qualifications" are not flexible. In order to be considered for any position at the State, your resume must clearly and explicitly (in the plainest possible language) demonstrate exactly how you meet the minimum qualifications. If you also possess the preferred qualifications, they too should be stated as plainly as possible.

3. NEVER use an experience-based resume to apply to the State of Minnesota. Your resume must be laid out chronologically so that we can compare candidates in the most equitable way. Experience-based resumes (lacking the timeline) do not allow for equitable comparison and will not be considered.

The following benefits are available to any state employee whose appointment is at least six months long, whether temporary or permanent.

  *   Paid Time Off. Receive a minimum of 13 days of paid vacation, 13 days of sick time, and 11 paid holidays. Depending upon your employment plan, you may be able to use vacation as deferred compensation.
