● Position Level: Mid-Level
● Job Type: Full-time
● Reports To: President & CEO
● Location: Washington, DC
● Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

The Policy Director is responsible for helping to develop and implement AAPD’s policy research agenda and communicating with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public about AAPD’s work. The Director oversees and directs all aspects of the policy process; identifies opportunities for legislative and administrative policy change; and coordinates with government affairs staff to implement an agenda that advances key strategic goals. The Policy Director works closely with the Policy Committee of AAPD’s Board and the communications team to develop and manage strategic communication for AAPD and conduct public education efforts. The Director is responsible for developing new policy and communications ideas, coordinating efforts with other programmatic and advocacy priorities within AAPD, and working with the broader disability and civil rights community to advance equal opportunity, economic power, independent living, and political participation of disabled people.

● Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 per year

The AAPD Program Coordinator is responsible for the execution of some of the primary components related to the AAPD Summer Internship Program<https://aapd.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=08dab5cd58ad9250c3f56519f&id=bdf620b03b&e=c8c05cc45a>, including the Disability Advocacy Certificate Program<https://aapd.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=08dab5cd58ad9250c3f56519f&id=c3137b7141&e=c8c05cc45a>. For Summer of 2021, AAPD will host the Summer Internship Program and Certificate Programs virtually. We plan to host a class of 30 interns and two Certificate Programs classes. While most of the job responsibilities listed below can be translated for a virtual Summer Internship Program, some reflect responsibilities for an in-person program. The Program Coordinator reports to and works with the Programs Manager to meet organizational goals and execute the day-to-day functions of both programs. The Program Coordinator will also act as a primary point of contact for summer interns.

The AAPD Deputy Director is a senior leadership and management position. The Deputy Director will be a critical thinking partner to the CEO and will help shape the vision, strategic direction, and the organization’s priority activities. This is an exciting and expansive role that includes partnership and project management (business development, framing of key approaches, high-quality client delivery, written products), organizational administration, and human capital responsibilities (HR/recruiting, mentoring, career progression). Additionally, this individual will help develop and oversee program and organizational evaluations to measure results and ensure fidelity. The Deputy Director will partner closely with the President and CEO to chart AAPD’s future growth and strategic responses to a dynamic and ever-growing disability community.
