The Assistant HR Director manages and directs the Employment Services/Staffing, Transactions, Safety/Workers Compensation, Training and Recruiting within the Department of Public Safety Human Resources Office, providing HR management and support for a state agency of approximately 2200 employees located throughout the State of Minnesota.

The Assistant HR Director provides management and oversight in the planning, execution, and assessment of DPS HR programs which include the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and human resource strategic direction.  This managerial position works in partnership with the HR Director to provide analysis, expertise, problem solving and strategic direction to executives, managers, and supervisors in the delivery of human resource programs and services at DPS.  This position provides strategic professional HR consulting services to agency managers and supervisors in the areas of; employee and labor relations issues; performance management; classification and compensation; recruitment and selection; development and implementation of policies, procedures and workforce planning; workplace safety and worker's compensation and training and development.  Ensures integration of functions across all units within the Human Resources Office and assists in developing and implementing strategic direction for the Human Resources Office.

This position will act in the absence of the HR Director on human resources related matters.
