This vacancy is being announced at the HR Specialist 2 and HR Specialist 3 level. The final job class will be determined based on the selected finalist qualifications and responses to the interview questions. This position is eligible to telework in a hybrid work environment.

This position exists to provide advanced professional-level human resource advisory services to managers and supervisors in the Department of Corrections (DOC) in the areas of job analysis and classification; targeted recruitment; assessment and selection; and compensation.

  1.  Provide advanced professional-level assistance in administering the job classification function in the DOC, in accordance with delegated authority and established policies and procedures. Provide research assistance to the Staffing Supervisor and/or Staffing Manager on difficult job classification requests; review and respond to classification appeals; and assist in DOC classification initiatives.
  2.  Provide advice and guidance to DOC managers/supervisors in assigned accounts and guidance to HRM staff on the vacancy-filling process to ensure DOC positions are filled with qualified applications using job-related selection processes.
  3.  Consult and advise managers/supervisors to promote effective organizational structure and effective selection, job design, and job classification.
  4.  Consult with and provide direction to agency HRM staff, managers, and supervisors on personnel and labor relations issues, primarily in the areas of job classification, targeted recruitment, assessment and selection, compensation, recall from layoff and claiming processes.
  5.  Assist the Staffing Supervisor, Staffing Team Leads, and/or Staffing Manager in completing various assignments and projects.
