Job Summary:

This position provides supportive instruction in the student apartments and
reinforces nonvisual skills training in a real-world environment.  This
includes Providing hands-on instruction to adult and youth receiving
blindness training in a structure discovery methodology environment.
Instruction includes peer to peer nonvisual role modeling, everyday tasks
including nonvisual cooking, cleaning, shopping budgeting, and every day
problem solving.  A positive philosophy of              and strong nonvisual
skills is required.


This position contributes to Saavi Services for the Blind mission to
cultivate growth and opportunity for blind people through nonvisual skills
training; gaining the knowledge that all challenges have solutions, and
fostering self-efficacy, empowerment, and confidence. This means that all
hold a positive philosophy of blindness, and all contribute to the success
for each student.


Qualifications:

  *   Completion of a structure discovery training program, or
  *   One year experience working in a blindness training center using
structure discovery methodology or,
  *   One year experience working in the field of blindness and the ability
to demonstrate a positive philosophy of blindness and competent nonvisual
skills in Orientation and mobility and Everyday living tasks.
  *   All employees must complete Saavi Services for the Bind onboarding
emercion program before working directly with students.
Salary range 15.00-20.00 depending on experience and qualifications.

This position is full time, although part time positions may be available.
