Subject: [EXTERNAL] [508] "Technical accessibility specialist" position at
OPM

Good morning! We have a position open for a "technical accessibility
specialist." Details:
* Announcement on USAJOBS <https://www.usajobs.gov/job/815384200>
* Open until October 28 or we receive 200 applications
* GS-13
* Remote
* Not in my office. I'm not the hiring manager - or supervisory in any
capacity, for that matter
* They're looking for someone with strong accessibility skills and
experience with AI
I urge you to apply if you have both significant accessibility and some AI
experience. The last bullet in the qualifications, "participating in the
research and develop AI-driven assistive technologies as they relate to 508
compliance," had me scratching my head, and not just because of the minor
grammatical error. The authors' definition of "assistive technologies"
differs from mine. If you have AI experience but it doesn't have to do with,
say, manufacturing a new pointing device or creating a new screen reader,
you may well still qualify. If you *have* done such a thing, I urge you to
apply - and I'm sure many of us on the listserv would love to hear about it!
I'd be happy to answer any questions or put you in contact with someone who
can.
