Hi Michelle and all,

The State Board of Vocational Rehabilitation meeting starts at 9AM and goes until noon or sometimes 12:15PM. The meeting room is usually open by 8:30AM for people to network and talk, so if you can get there early enough to grab Board members and tell them your concerns before the meeting starts, that would be good.

There will be a more official announcement of the meeting distributed by the Labor and Industry stakeholders email list soon, and I will forward that along to you all.

As you know from our Leadership Seminar in March, there is a lot going on regarding BBVS and its ability to continue serving the Blind of Pennsylvania.

Below is the information regarding the next OVR State Board Meeting.  It is imperative  that as many of us attend this meeting as possible.  There will be a time for public comment, and it would be great for the entire Board as well as the enforcers of OVR to hear what you have to say.

This potential merger effects not only the VR program but the Independent Living Older Blind and the Childrens Program.

Please make plans to attend.  We need to be heard!

Good Evening OVR Board Members,

The next OVR State Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday June 13, 2019 and will be held at:

            The Woodlands Inn
            1073 Highway 315
Wilkes Barre, PA 18702

  *   We are working on scheduling an informational meeting and dinner for the Board at The Woodlands Inn on the evening of Wednesday, June 12, 2019. The focus will be on the responsibilities of the Board and understanding Pennsylvania’s Sunshine Act (open meetings law).  Specific details will be sent closer to the meeting date, but we need to know if you are able to arrive early to participate in this informational session.  A good guess is that the session will occur between 5pm-8pm.  Please respond to this message and advise me if your schedule will allow you to participate.

  *   In addition, please let me know if you will need overnight accommodations for the evening of June 12.

  *   Finally, please feel free to share any agenda items you would like to be considered for the June 13 meeting.
