Howdy ,

Goodbye August...Hello September! Check out these upcoming events and
opportunities to use your ACCESS Card as fall approaches.

*Take the ACCESS Cardholder Site Visit Survey!*

Center, Delaware Theater Company, Natural Lands: Stroud Preserve,
Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, and Grounds for Sculpture.

*Are you an ACCESS cardholder who enjoys arts and culture? Are you a person
with a disability or a person who provides care for someone with a
disability? Visit our ACCESS partners and complete our survey!*

Art-Reach is providing comprehensive accessibility plans to 76 cultural
organizations in and around the Philadelphia area prior to the semi
quincentennial celebrations (USA's 250th anniversary of the 1776
Declaration of Independence) in 2026. Each organization will receive a
multi-year action oriented Strategic Accessibility Plan, helping to ensure
that cultural organizations are inclusive, safe, and a welcoming space for
visitors with disabilities.

We're currently working with the National Constitution Center, Grounds for
Sculpture, Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, Delaware Theater Company, and the
Stroud Preserve on gathering feedback from the disability community to help
improve visitor experience! We know that accessibility is not possible
without feedback from the disability community. Art-Reach has created a
survey to aid in their discovery and assessment process. We invite you to
share your perspective about the accessibility of your visit to the
National Constitution Center, Grounds for Sculpture, and/or Philadelphia's
Magic Gardens.

This survey is anonymous, and the data will be used SOLELY to improve
visitor experiences at cultural organizations through the feedback
received. We are grateful for your participation! Click the button below to
complete the survey.

*"First Friday: Science for All" at the Science History Institute, 9/6*
[image: photo of a wooden prosthetic arm piece]

Photo of 'Prosthetic Arm with Strings,' a prosthetic arm and detachable
hand with wrist and mechanisms that allow the joints to be manually rotated
and locked into place, built by Dr. Morris Robbins, 1900s.

*Explore science history at “Science for All” First Friday, hosted by the
Science History Institute on Friday, September 6 from 5pm - 7pm. *This
event is free and open to the public, and is wheelchair accessible.

Come celebrate diversity, accessibility, and the universal spirit of
scientific exploration. Together, let’s envision a future where science
truly belongs to everyone! The “Science for All” First Friday event at the
Science History Institute will feature a new oral history-based Voices of
Science audio tour centered on five boundary-breaking scientists, as well
as handling collection activities that explore assistive technology in the
laboratory (from braille-based chemical notation to new tactile deep-space
images produced by the James Webb Space Telescope). Check out a collection
of handcrafted personal prosthetics made by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Morris
A. Robbins (1916–2004), who designed and fabricated his own prosthetics
before other versions were widely available.

From the cosmos to your kitchen, try out assistive tools that reimagine
scientific understanding. Did you know that we have an amazing ability to
study the structure of objects using our hands, fingers . . . and tongues?
Explore and interact with many different tactile tools that teach us about
the world around us. Meet with special guests from Philly Touch Tours, who
will share expertise in making museum experiences accessible to individuals
with vision impairment, or learn more about the Art-Reach “ACCESS” program,
which helps make cultural experiences more affordable and inclusive.

*The Garden: River's Edge at Philly Fringe, 9/6 - 9/22*
[image: Graphic with photo advertising The Garden: The River's Edge]

An audience member, wearing a black top and green headphones, is seen
sitting on a wooden bench looking to the left. 10 rows of benches stretch
horizontally across the frame and continue into the distance, where another
audience member with blond hair and blue headphones can be seen looking
forward. In the distance, a projection of water surrounding a boulder can
be seen along the back wall next to a glowing window. Graphic text reads:

Philadelphia, PA Philadelphia Fringe Festival 2024. Photo by Christopher
Ash.

*The Garden: River’s Edge is a guided experience for 5 -7 audience members
at a time, leading participants on an intimate and expansive journey of
connection, reflection, and gentle acts of participation.* The work is
influenced by the history and architecture of Arch Street Meeting House
with reflections on transformations that span subtle and epic scales.

The Garden: River's Edge invites the audience into an interactive
experience in which they are both viewer and participant. Audience members
are each given a headset to guide their 40 minute journey through one of 5
individualized sound scores of music, poetry and prompts as they navigate
the shifting terrain of the performance.
