Hi everyone!
Happy Summer!
This Saturday, August 8, 2026 will be our next Keystone Chapter meeting, and it will be held using a hybrid model, with an in-person and a virtual option. The meeting will begin at 10:15 a.m. Please see below for the directions to the Penn Museum and the Zoom link for the meeting.
Some items we will talk about include: fundraising ideas for the Fall, legislation to help blind people return to work, state convention in Hershey, PA this November, our participation in the Philadelphia marathon, and our get -together at Wiggins Park, NJ on August 24,2026 for a free jazz concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis.
But that’s not all!...
After our chapter meeting this Saturday, we will be holding our first Philly Fun Walk! This walk will help us build public awareness throughout our community and raise funds for advancing equality for blind people through the work of the NFB. The walk will start from the historic University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology at 3260 South Street, where our Keystone meeting will be held. Then we will head over to Cira Green, which is a beautiful rooftop green space in the heart of the city of brotherly love. This park is located at 129 S. 30th street and overlooks the mighty Schuylkill River. But to get to the park, we will walk up 12 flights of stairs up to the roof of the Cira Tower. Once we reach the roof, we will walk several laps around the entire one acre Cira Green park. In total we will be walking two miles!
Wait, there’s more! …
After our Philly Fun Walk, we will have lunch at Cira Green itself! There is a burger place in the rooftop park as well!
If you think you are up for this challenge, I encourage you to come out and join us!
If you really can’t make it, not to worry! You can still help by sponsoring this walk by making a donation. Please go to https://nfb.org/contribute/c2c/ and enter “NFB of PA Keystone Chapter” in the notes field. We encourage a donation of $20 to support this cause, but we are grateful for any amount.
Come and learn, share, connect, and help in our movement to make our communities a more equitable place for blind people. If you have never been to a Keystone Chapter meeting before, or haven't been here in a while, it's never too late to start or to reconnect. We are so excited to see everyone here!
Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!
Sincerely,
Harriet Go/Danner
