Hello NFADB Members- Please see the note below and thank you for your consideration-

Hello,

I wondered if you could help get the word about another study related to parents working with IEP teams

This current study, Partnership in the Education of Students who are Deafblind: A look at factors that influence parent attitudes toward the relationship they have with their child's educational team, is focused just on parents/caregivers of children who are deafblind (information attached to this email). I am hoping to gather data from parents who have challenges with their relationships with their child’s IEP teams as well as those who have good relationships. I hope to understand what’s working and not working so that I can put out some strategies for teams. For instance, I’ve been talking with Katie Humes and Kathy Scoggin from the WA DB project about creating a toolkit for parents to use to help educate their teams on deafblindness.

I am doing this as part of one of my final classes and I have to have my full report written up by the end of November so would appreciate any help getting the word out. I’m hoping to get 60 parents/caregivers to respond

Thank you for any help. As a parent of kids with a dual loss, I’m really excited about this. I learned that I wasn’t alone in my experiences working with my district. I think that not having professionals who are knowledgeable about DB on IEP teams is a real problem and I want to help change that.
