Good afternoon students and all Federationists.
Tomorrow, the blind community is gathering at the State House steps to
make our voices heard about MCB. As reported in the Globe, MCB has
mismanaged finances and the director has insulted employees. They spent
thousands of dollars making a comic book which was inaccessible to the
blind. A comic book about an MCB superhero saving the blind by giving
them independence. A comic book that, despite the amount of money spent,
is filled with typos. It's in poor taste and poor quality! And that
money could have provided us with equipment which many have been waiting
for months to receive. It could have gone to hire more employees to
decrease their caseloads, which are too burdensome. We saw the lack of
transparency when we heard from MCB at our state convention. Now is the
time to act! Come gather with us. Let's remind them that we will not be
ignored. MCB is here to serve us. Let's make sure that they are doing
their jobs. Even if you are having a good experience with MCB, other
blind people, and employees just trying to serve us well, are not. Come
stand with your brothers and sisters tomorrow at noon!
We will gather at 24 Beacon St, on the state house steps. See you there!
