Hi everyone,

As you might have read in Friday’s legislative alert, HR3935 passed the
Senate with all of the disability-related provisions intact! This is great
news, but the job is not done yet. The bill now heads to the House of
Representatives for final consideration, and we just found out that the
vote is likely happening tomorrow afternoon.

Today is the day to contact our Representatives in the House and ask them
to vote in favor of H.R. 3935, maintaining the important accessibility
provisions for blind and disabled air travelers. These provisions include
training requirements for assisting passengers with disabilities, better
access standards for the accessibility of in-flight entertainment, and
improved access to airline websites. Additionally, the bill initiates a
pilot program for air passengers to register their service animal,
eliminating the need to complete the service animal forms for each flight.

Please contact your representative either by phone or by email today! This
only takes a few minutes. I have attached a document with the contact
information for each of the representatives in MA and instructions to find
your representative. If you need help figuring out who your representative
is, please email me privately.

Here is a sample message to use as a guide when calling or emailing your
Representative:

"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], and I am a constituent of [REPRESENTATIVE
NAME]. I live in [CITY, STATE]. I would like to urge [REPRESENTATIVE NAME]
to maintain the accessibility-related provisions of H.R 3935 as it moves
through the House of Representatives. These provisions in the legislation
will help increase the accessibility of air travel for blind and disabled
passengers. Thanks."

If applicable, feel free to personalize your message with a recent
disability-related barrier you experienced while traveling.

If you email your representative, please remember to copy the NFB
Governmental Affairs Specialist, Justin Young, to your email. His email is
jyoung at nfb.org.

Happy to answer any questions. Let’s make these calls and send these emails
today!
