[Massachusetts-NFB] June Parent Division Notes

Here are the June parent division meeting notes. They are pasted under my

June Parent Division Meeting Notes:

 

 

The June parent division meeting was called to ordered on June 19, at 6:19
P.M. The people who were in attendance were Ellen Bartelt, Jen Bows, youm
Wen Ly, Hai Wen Ly, and Stephanie Valdes.

 

House Keeping:

The meeting minutes from May were found in the parent google drive. Members
agreed to look through the notes, and they will be voted on during the July
meeting. Hai shared the google drive link with Ellen. Hai, Ellen, and Kobina
will set up a time to discuss the division's treasury. The members discussed
the times for meetings. The meetings are currently taking place on the
second Thursday of the month at 6:00 P.m. There had been discussion about
pushing the meeting time to seven. The members decided to keep the meetings
at 6 for right now. This can be changed in future meetings.

 

IEP Training:

Stephanie attended an Iep training at the national office. As part of her
training, she has to have a seminar in Mass sometime this year. She is
waiting to receive the materials from the national office. There was
discussion about having a parent training during our upcoming state
convention. There was also discussion about having a small parent tract
during future BELL programs.

 

Parent Bill:

The parent division has signed a parent bill for Mass. Stephanie sent the
bill to Kyra so she could look at it. When we had our day at the Capital the
parent bill was discussed with congress members. We hope to hear the outcome
of the bill soon.

BELL Program:

 

The BELL program will take place from August 4 to 15. The paperwork has been
emailed to the volunteers helping with this year's BELL program. We
currently have four, maybe five students who signed up for the BELL Program.
We are having a raffle at the Mass table during national convention for the
BELL program. We have three prizes we are raffling off. They are a glam
cane, a basket of skin care products from Just Justine, and a 100-dollar
gift card from Home Cheep. One raffle ticket will cost five dollars, and
three tickets will cost ten dollars.

 

Mentoring Program:

Hai will look back at the notes in the google drive to figure out the task
we need to take to get our mentoring program started in Mass.

 

Next Meeting:

 

The next parent division meeting will take place on July 17 at 6:00 P.M.
