At-Large Chapter Minutes, April 14, 2026

The April 14, 2026 meeting of the At-Large Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts was called to order at 7:01 PM

NFB Pledge

Liz led the NFB Pledge.
Secretary’s Report

Stephen moved acceptance of the Secretary’s Report; the motion was seconded by Shara and passed unanimously.
Treasury

Sandy and Allen stated that they would connect to determine the previous balance. Shara believed the balance was approximately $500, and $50 was donated for state convention door prizes.
Affiliate President’s Update

NORTH SHORE CHAPTER

Shara announced that an interest meeting for the North Shore Chapter would be held at the Peabody Library on April 30 at 6:30 PM. The hope was to elect a board and begin working on bylaws, which would hopefully be approved by the affiliate board to officially establish the chapter.
GIGGLE GALA

The Giggle Gala would be held on December 3.
NATIONAL CONVENTION

The national convention would be held in Austin, Texas this summer. Shara asked who would be attending, and ElizabethAnn, Cullen, Shirley, Stephen, Shannon, and Inky indicate they plan to attend.
Elections

Elections were held for all positions. Shara conducted the election for chapter president.
PRESIDENT

Liz Lesperance and Stephen Yerardi were nominated for chapter president. Liz declined the nomination, and Stephen accepted. Cullen moved that nominations cease and Stephen be elected by acclamation. The motion was seconded by Shirley and passed unanimously.
VICE PRESIDENT

Liz Lesperance was nominated for vice president and accepted. There were no additional nominations. Kristina moved that nominations cease and Liz be elected by acclamation. The motion was seconded by Cullen and passed unanimously.
SECRETARY

Cullen Gallagher was nominated for secretary and accepted. There were no additional nominations. Hai moved that nominations cease and Cullen be elected by acclamation. The motion was seconded by Shara and passed unanimously.
TREASURER

Allen Larkin, Hai Nguyen Ly, and Sandy Burgess were nominated for treasurer. Allen accepted the nomination. There were no additional nominations. Kristina moved that nominations cease and Allen be elected by acclamation. The motion was seconded by Cullen and passed unanimously.
BOARD MEMBER

Kristina Constant, Lavender Darcangelo, Shannon Cantan, Brian Langlois, Youme Nguyen Ly, and ElizabethAnn Johnson were nominated for board member. ElizabethAnn accepted the nomination. Cullen moved that nominations cease and ElizabethAnn be elected by acclamation. The motion was seconded by Sandy and passed unanimously.
Presidential Release

Donation to Shannon Donahue

Shara informed the chapter that member Shannon Donahue was in the hospital recovering from brain surgery. The chapter discussed making a donation to Shannon and her family and decided on $100. Cullen moved that the chapter donate $100 for Shannon’s recovery. The motion was seconded by Liz and passed unanimously.
Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM. The next meeting was scheduled for May 12. For the May meeting, Shara would provide the icebreaker, and Kristina would recite the NFB Pledge.
