Welcome
Thank you for joining us for STEM2U! We are so excited to have your child
participate in our experiments. We are equally excited to have parents join
us for our MDOPBC workshop on making science accessible. We have a very
exciting day planned for you.
Registration and Membership
There is no cost for parents and students to register. You can sign up your
child and register for the MDOPBC workshop by visiting the link Below:

Also, please join and/or pay your membership dues. It is not required for
families to pay membership dues to participate in the workshop. Dues cost

Student Schedule for Saturday May 20, 2023
STEM2U 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM
9:30 AM-Check in
Participants can meet new friends while waiting on others to arrive.
9:45 AM -Introductions and Instructions

10:15 AM -Experiment 1 Blasting off to the Moon
With a limited number of supplies, students must construct a balloon rocket
that will blast them off to the moon.
10:45 AM -Experiment 2 3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF!!!
Students can Blast off if they can figure out how to make fuel with only two
ingredients.
11:15 AM -Experiment 3 Surviving on the Moon
A new research station is needed on the moon. Students must use there
engineering minds to create the station out of sticks and doe.
11:45 AM -Lunch
WE will be providing free lunch for both parents and students. Please
contact Brittany Bomboy if your child has any Dietary restrictions. Brittany
can be reached by calling 757-969-3724.
12:30 PM-Robotics Demonstration
MMadhav Rao, Mentor First Chesapeake Robotics Team
1:15 PM-Experiment 4 Moon Research
Weight and Gravity make all the difference in this experiment. Students will
test which objects have the greatest impact on the moon.
2:00 PM-Experiment 5 No Place Like Home
Mission Accomplished on the moon. Now students must find their way home
safely.
2:45 PM-Competition and Closing Remarks
Students and parents will both compete against each other under learning
shades to decide who is the better astronaut.

Parents will learn how to conduct one of the student experiments under
learning shades to prepare for their competition.
2:45 PM-Competition and Closing Remarks
Students and parents will both compete against each other under learning
shades to decide who is the better astronaut.
We want to thank all our speakers and guests who participated in our
workshop from around the state of Maryland. We also want to thank all the
volunteers who helped run the workshop. This workshop could not have been a
success without you.
It was such a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends and catch up with
old ones. We wish everyone safe travel home.
