[MD-AtLarge] Meeting Reminder & Minutes

Hello All,

The next meeting of the At-Large chapter will be tomorrow, Tuesday, June
17. Our guest speakers will be Jesse and Sherry Shirek, an interesting
couple who have lots to share with us about NFB and life. We will also talk
about listening to the National Convention in July. See below for the May
meeting minutes:

NFBMD At Large Chapter Meeting Minutes for May 20, 2025



The Presidential Release was played at 7:30PM.

The meeting was started at 7:45PM by Marguerite Woods, President.

The round robin took place. Everyone announced themselves, stated where
they are in the state, and answered the question, “share something that you
did independently and a skill that helps you out or that you use”.

There were approximately 20 members on the call.



Marguerite made the following announcements:

The senior call will be on May 21st starting at 7PM.

On June 7th starting at 1:30PM, a Discussion will take place about having
an ABLE account.

The National Convention will be held July 8th through the 13th in New
Orleans.



Sharon led a discussion on the importance of independence with the members
on the call. She read some of Dr. Jernigan’s speech called “The Nature of
Independence.” He said that independence means “choices and the ability to
make those choices stick.”



The meeting adjourned at 9:15PM.
