Friends,
I'm sorry to share that Dave Hall passed away on July 14, 2026 at the age of
79. Dave was a founding member of the Greater Carroll County Chapter of the
NFB of Maryland and for many years served as Chapter Secretary. Dave was
blind at heart, and he was well-known for his work repairing Perkins
Braillers in Carroll County and the surrounding area, including for other
members and the local school systems. Dave, an engineer, also enjoyed
making accessible games and devices, including beep baseballs, bikes, math
toys for kids, and alternative equipment for home repairs and science. Dave
was a creative, and his focus was making sure that blind people, the
elderly, and others could maintain their independence with the right tools.
Dave leaves behind his wife of many years, Wanda, his children Michael and
Michelle, and three beloved grandchildren.

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is not
the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
