Subject: Making it easier to use computers -- Saturday, August 27 at Rockville Memorial Library

Have you -- or someone you know -- given up on learning how to use a computer? Maybe it's difficult to use a mouse, or read the print, or remember key commands. Check out "Guide," which is an award-winning software package with built-in prompts, magnification and speech that uses clear menu choices and few keystrokes to help you easily send and read e-mail, search the web, and keep club minutes and other documents. Other features include online radio, calendar, contacts, digital downloads and scanning.

This second presentation on Guide is by Jeanie Dunnington, and features hands-on demonstration geared for people with partial or no vision. Register to attend on Saturday, August 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Computer Lab on the second floor of the Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave., Rockville, 20850. Register by calling 240-777-0959. Some headphones will be available, but bringing your own is recommended. Saturday Adaptive Technology Sessions are sponsored by the Disability Resource Center Library Advisory Committee.
ADA accommodation requests: call 240-777-0959 by August 21.
Metro Access and taxi riders: The Rockville Library has two entrances: on Beall St. near Maryland Ave., which has 3 steps, and on the Rockville Town Center plaza, no steps, near a pull-out on Maryland Ave. past the entrance to the Thai Pavilion restaurant.
Bus: From the Rockville Metro station take Ride On bus #45 in the direction of the Germantown Transit Center to the stop at E. Middle Lane and Maryland Avenue. Go past the Starbucks on the corner of Maryland Avenue, north to the Rockville Town Center Plaza, about 1/2 block. The library faces the north side of the Plaza, next to the Thai Pavilion restaurant.
Parking is in garages across Maryland Ave. from the library, and costs $1 for all day Saturday.
