Subject: Braille reader presence on library Snapshot Day!

Good news for publicizing what Montgomery County Public Libraries have for people with special needs and disabilities!

Wednesday, October 10, is Library Snapshot Day. Every library branch takes photos of activities (some planned, some spontaneous) for publicity and archives. And at Rockville Memorial Library, from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m., Debbie Brown will read "Harry the Dirty Dog" to students from BVeall Elementary School ... using the print-Braille edition in the MCPL collection.

Didn't know there were any books that a parent and chiild could borrow and read together if one of them were blind, did you? That's the point!

Conncilmember George Leventhal will be reading at 9:45 a.m. Debbie will certainly talk to him about MCPL , and some phone calls (240-777-7900) and emails (councilmember.leventhal at montgomerycountymd.gov<mailto:councilmember.leventhal at montgomerycountymd.gov>) would be well timed. But this isn't a meet-and-greet session; no need to come in person.

Spread the word -- support libraries! The lobbying this year was good enough to get a few more stafff and a little longer hurs at the main branches, so keep up the good work!

Jeanie Dunnington
