Thanks, Terry, for sending this. I have not recently checked how difficult it was to set up an account, but you do need sighted assistance to register your card, because you have to check a graphic on your card to see which graphic it matches on your computer screen.

Subject: SmarTrip Changes Effective October 1

Starting October 1, the price of a new SmarTrip card drops to $2 (previously $5). At Metrorail station dispensers and participating CVS stores, $10 will buy a card preloaded with $8 in fare value. With the new lower SmarTrip card price, the registration rebate program will be discontinued September 30.

We encourage you to establish an online SmarTrip account to take advantage of balance protection and Auto Reload. With Auto Reload you never have to wait in line to add value to your card. Value is added automatically when your card value drops below $10. To sign up, visit wmata.com/autoreload<http://wmata.com/autoreload>. Beginning October 1, you will no longer be able to exit Metrorail with a negative balance lower than $1.50. Auto Reload ensures that you will never have to visit the Exitfare machine to add value to exit the system.

Metro continues to work to give you a better ride. To learn more about other changes and to support Metro's efforts, go to wmata.com/momentum<http://wmata.com/momentum>.

Thanks for riding.
