[Md-sligo] Preparedness workbook in Braille

Do you happen to have the electronic copy? Okay well I don't know
what this thing is, but if you have it in electronic form, you
can definitely attach it to the email. Well the last email you
sent, saying that it was attached, wasn't even a document, when I
tried to detach it. It was something odd.

Hi Debbie:
I really missed Pauline. She was a true federationist, and I hope
we will all follow her example.
May her soul, and the souls of the faithfully departed rest in
peace.

Janice, we all regret that. I doubt if Pauline's family knew
half the
things she did for our chapter. I feel certain Pauline provided
in
some way for Fernicia. She was a smart lady, and would not
leave
something as important as that undone. We will definitely do
something as a chapter to honor her memory. I feel certain you
will
 have
some good ideas.
 See you Saturday!

 Hi Debbie,
Did she die of the infection of at her feeding tube site? Where
will
Fernisha live and what will happen to her when she graduates
this May?

Pauline was a hard worker and avid baker. I knew I could never
compete with all that she baked. She was amazing. She was
committed
to the work of the Federation and to building the Chapter. I
pray
that her family will find peace and grace from their faith in
God
during these times of sadness and loss.

I regret that her family did not allow us to participate in the
 services held in her memory.

Hello Debbie and the entire Chapter, I did not know Pauline as
long as
many of you but the Quality of the person I met will long live
the
Quantity of time that I knew her. I regret that she did not
live to
enjoy her well earned retirement time. She did live long enough
to
raise her grand-daughter. She will be looking down and watch
her
become the woman that she taught her to be. Our chapter MUST
set
aside a little fund or award to give yearly in memory of such an
outstanding member.

 Hi Everyone,

It is sad to hear about Pauline. I have known Pauline for 22
years
which is a very long time. We need to make sure that we all take
care
of ourselves and to live the lives we want for ourselves. We did
not
know about the end and other details. we should have a memorial
serviceor some activity which Pauline loved to remind ourselves
the
 life
and legacy of pauline.

 Yasmin

state
board for several years. I think she joined the chapter in
1990. I
think Lloyd showed her how to use a cane at her first meeting..

She worked for the Prince Georges County government and had many
difficulties getting her computer equipment updated. She was
not able
to take time off for blindness training, and she accomplished
all she
did without knowing braille and having very little travel
training.
She was a whiz in the kitchen and learned those skills on her
own out
of the necessity to feed her family.

When her granddaughter Fernisha needed care, Pauline provided a
home
for her. Fernisha was a part of our chapter at a young age, and
 everyone knew her from conventions.

As a chapter officer, Pauline believed it was her responsibility
to do
what she could for fundraising and chapter-building. She
shivered her
way through innumerable nut sales, sometimes when she didn't
feel very
well.
She was a good companion at the table. One day when a man got
too
close to the cash box, she moved very quickly to cover the money
with
her hand to make sure it stayed in there.

She was an excellent cook and baker, as frequenters of bake
sales,
auctions and parties know. Her sock-it-to-me cake recipe,as far
as I
know, has gone with her to the grave.

She did what she could to build each member of the chapter. If
she
saw that someone was upset during a meeting, she was usually the
first
person to go to that person afterward and provide encouragement.
She
was not afraid to call me after an event to let me know if she
thought
the chapter wasn't treating someone right. She believed it was
her
 duty to keep everyone committed.

Pauline attended many conventions. She participated in the
human
services division and other groups. She lived on sardines,
peanutbutter sandwiches, and oatmeal so that she and Fernisha
could
afford to go to conventions, and she did what she could to get
the
most out of the experience. Even when she was ill and using a
 wheelchair,
she got out and about.

Pauline will be missed. The best way we can honor her as to
work for
the Federation and encourage each other as she did.

 Debbie

I am writing to let you know that Pauline Johnson has passed

We will be having the chapter Christmas party at Bobby and Linda
Bobo's house on Saturday, December 13, at 1:30. Be thinking
about
 what you want to bring.

We are out of cashews, but we have some of everything else left.
If
you have a large order, let us know about it so that we can make
sure
we can fill it. We got a second order in November, but we hope
to be
 winding down.

The day in Annapolis this year is Thursday, January 22. That is
the
day we go to talk to legislators in Annapolis, and we need as
many
people from as many districts as possible. Make plans now to
take the day
off.

Hello All,

Please send an email or make phone calls as directed by Lauren,
read below.
We have a chance to get space available past this year. Blind
and Disabled
Veterans deserve this benefit. Let's make it happen. Please
take action
today, Dec. 9 or tomorrow Dec. 10.

Thanks,

Sharon Maneki

I have an important update on the Space Available bill. As you
know, it
successfully passed in the House as part of the National Defense
Authorization Act (NDAA), and we have been waiting for the Senate
version of
NDAA to move so we could amend it into that as well. However, we
have run
into the same problem as last year: the Senate has done NDAA
almost
exclusively behind closed doors and is unlikely to allow floor
amendments!
Worse, we heard there is controversy over parts of NDAA that is
jeopardizing
if it will even pass at all! This is our chance to pass Space A
- S. 346
has 19 cosponsors and no opposition, it passed in the House, and
NDAA is the
perfect vehicle for it - let's mobilize and get this thing done.

We need everyone to do two things. 1) Call Senator Tester's
office
(202-224-2644) or email his staffers
(dylan_laslovich at tester.senate.gov
<mailto:dylan_laslovich at tester.senate.gov> and
Jorge_Rueda at hsgac.senate.gov
<mailto:Jorge_Rueda at hsgac.senate.gov> ) and urge them to file
Space
Available as an amendment to NDAA. If amendments are allowed,
Space A needs
to be in line for consideration! 2) Please call Senator Levin's
committee
office (202) 224-3871) or email his staffer
(jonathan_clark at armed-services.senate.gov
<mailto:jonathan_clark at armed-services.senate.gov> ) to urge them
to include
Space Available in NDAA.

We can't allow Space Available to sit on the shelf for yet
another year,
collecting dust and cosponsors, while the right vehicle to move
it keeps
circling the block and refusing to pick up amendments. That would
mean a
procedural problem stopped this bill, rather than any real
problem with the
actual bill itself. Please speak up on behalf of blind veterans
and help us
get Space Available in NDAA!

Hi Sharon,
Sorry I did not see your letter earlier but Destiny had surgery
today to
remove 4 masses 2 on her shoulder, one on her leg and one on her
chest
that they believe might be malignant. She is now at home with me
sleeping with an "E" collar or Cone of Shame.

However, the question I have Sharon when I email the staffers
tonight
about the SPACE AVAILABLE on military flights for Disabled
Veterans is
should I talk about some Disabled Veterans using Guide Dogs and
the Air
Carriers Accessibility Act ACAA (or does it not apply to military
flights)?
