Hi all,

As part of our journey back to discussing more Windows content:

The following is applicable if you have installed recent Windows 11 updates:

As some of you found out, not all features announced by Microsoft are
available to everyone. Some of these are gradually rolling out, while others
are available to everyone. The former is the case for first-letter
navigation in Windows 11 taskbar, and the latter are mostly bug fixes.

For features gradually rolling out, these are initially tested by Windows
Insiders before making their way to everyone as part of optional cumulative
updates. Features included in optional updates will then be packaged as part
of the following month's regular cumulative update (second Tuesday of the
month). The mechanism behind feature rollout requires a backstage tour, but
suffice to say that it involves some internal flags set by Windows
developers. For a slightly geeky overview, including an example of features
rolling out gradually, see the July optional update link from Jason's post.

To use features gradually rolling out without opting into Windows Insider
Program, go to Settings (Windows+)/Windows Update, then check "Get the
latest updates as soon as they're available". Even this toggle is checked,
you won't get new features right away - Microsoft throttles feature
availability to make sure things are going well.

Cheers,

Joseph
