Before I get to the news, I first want to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who contributed and/or attended my fundraiser last month!  I was delighted that Lt. Governor Aruna Miller and House Majority Leader David Moon attended and provided remarks to the group.  We had a great turnout and it was wonderful to see so many supporters!

If you didn't get a chance to make a contribution yet, the legislature's fundraising blackout period starts on January 8th. Search for Unpaid Wages

The U.S. Department of Labor announced that several thousand Marylanders are owed nearly $7 million in unpaid wages.  The money was recovered by the federal government from employers who did not pay workers properly. New Senior Services One-Stop Provider

The Maryland Department of Health recently announced the expansion of the  <https://juliepalakovichcarr.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e6eca5fb9f212127bb083f617&id=b9dbf01866&e=d37a141d0c> Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly.  Three new locations, including one in Montgomery County, will allow the State to serve up to 800 seniors, allowing more older adults to remain in their homes while receiving essential care within their communities.

The program provides adults aged 55+ with comprehensive access to their health and supportive care in one location.  Participants can benefit from a wide range of services, including primary medical care, prescription medications, transportation, physical therapy, and meal assistance.

Local Group Receives State Funding to Combat Poverty

Gaithersburg non-profit Identity has received $300,000 from the State of Maryland in the inaugural round of funding for  <https://juliepalakovichcarr.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e6eca5fb9f212127bb083f617&id=34db21c960&e=d37a141d0c> ENOUGH grants to fight childhood poverty.  The grant program was created last year by Governor Moore and the General Assembly to end concentrated childhood poverty.

MC Groceries Helps Families With Kids

A partnership between Montgomery County and Instacart is helping middle-income families who are food insecure.  The program provides $100 each month per child for groceries. Benefits Eligibility Tool

The Moore/Miller Administration recently announced the launch of a new online tool to help Marylanders easily determine what government assistance programs they might qualify for.  The  <https://juliepalakovichcarr.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e6eca5fb9f212127bb083f617&id=167b786aa8&e=d37a141d0c> Unified Benefits Screener is the first tool in Maryland that allows a resident to quickly and easily check their eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Emergency Assistance, Women Infants and Children, and Home Energy Assistance Program benefits.  No documentation or account is required.
