Hello All!

This is a great meet the blind month activity for braille readers. Contact
Lashawn Myles and ask her to send you a Braille Bettie. Her email address is
lawshawn.myles at maryland.gov <mailto:lawshawn.myles at maryland.gov> . Braille
Bettie is a caricature cut-out. Take a picture on your phone of you reading
with Braille Bettie nearby. Post the picture to your facebook page and to
the hashtag #ReadBrailleMD @lbph.org. If you can't post it yourself, send
it to Ashley.biggs1 at maryland .gov and she will do it for you. please do it
by the end of the month! The library is partnering with the Maryland
legislative Black Caucus, to encourage reading across Maryland. Let's
demonstrate that Braille counts too!

You can end the time of reading by attending the Friends annual meeting on
Saturday, November 2 from 10 am-2pm. Refreshments will be available. Help
LBPH shoot for the moon by sharing your ideas for programs and services.
Help us show our appreciation to LBPH volunteers. If you can attend please
call 410-230-2424 and press 5 to leave your name.

Happy reading and see you on November 2!

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is not
the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
