Thanks, Trudy. I'm rather new to the list, and to MD, and didn't know!

I can't come to this event, but I'm wondering what LBPH stands for. And
where is "the Library"? If I wanted to come, I would have no idea where
you're talking about. Maybe I'm not the only one in the dark here!

The Friends of LBPH will hold their Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 30
at 10:00 am at the Library. We are also conducting a bake sale to raise
money for the Braille book shelving project.

The featured speaker at the meeting will be Rafael Alvarez. Alvarez was a
City Desk reporter for the Baltimore Sun for twenty years, specializing in
local folklore. In addition to writing scripts for the HBO drama The Wire,
Alvarez has published The People's History of the Archdiocese of Baltimore,
and recently sold a pilot script for a new waterfront drama to the
Independent Film Channel. Rafael Alvarez is the author of six books,
including the short story collection, Orlo and Leini. LBPH has recorded The
Fountain of Highlandtown, narrated by Susan Rittenhouse, MDC00466.

Show your support for LBPH and buy a sweet so that Braille books at LBPH can
be properly preserved.
