Intended Audience: Teachers Certificated in the Education of Students who are Visually Impaired; Teachers Certificated in the Education of Students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing; Educators Serving Students Who are Visually Impaired, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Deafblind; Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialists (COMS); and, Speech/Language Pathologists/Audiologists

Date: August 24, 2009 

Functional Vision/Learning Media Assessment (FVLMA) is a set of assessment tools for students who are pre-academic or academic and visually impaired in grades K-12.  The assessments help practitioners gather, store, track, and analyze information regarding students' functional vision and appropriate learning media.  Workshop participants will work in pairs and small groups to complete sample tasks and practice assessments.  FVLMA kits will be available for audience members to use during the workshop. 

The half-day Assessment of Functional Hearing workshop will identify the difference between formal audiological hearing tests and functional or informal hearings tests and describe how information from these assessments can be shared to meet the needs of a student.  

Participants may attend either or both workshops:
* The Functional Vision Assessment and Learning Media Assessment (FVLMA) workshop will be on October 21 and ½ day (a.m.) October 22, 2009.
* The Assessment of Functional Hearing workshop will be ½ day October 22, 2009.
