The Blind Skills Specialist at the Northeast Regional Professional
Development Center (RPDC) will be hosting two free workshops: The Nemeth
Code: The Second Chapter and Braille For the Layperson.

The Nemeth Code: The Second Chapter will be held Thursday, January 28,
2010, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.  The Nemeth Code is the Braille math code.
This workshop is intended for parents, paraprofessionals, regular
education teachers or others who have the basics of the code: numerals,
signs of operation, signs of comparisons, and fractions.  Participants
should bring braillers if possible and Braille paper.

Braille For the Layperson will be held Thursday, February 25, 2010, from
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.  The workshop is for the person who is interested in
knowing more about Braille.  Participants will learn how to load a
brailler and a slate and stylus and learn the basics of Braille.
Parents,
paraprofessionals, special education teachers, and other
interested parties are encouraged to attend.  If possible, participants
should bring a brailler, slate and stylus, and Braille paper.

The workshops will be held at Alphapointe Association for the Blind,
7501 Prospect Ave., Kansas City, MO 64132.  For more information on
either of these workshops or to register contact Anthony Blade at
ablades at truman.edu or (660) 785-7428.
