Subject: [NFBMN-News] NFB of Minnesota Auction List

Fellow federationists,

Our convention is in just three days, and one of the highlights will be our
auction. Posted below, you will find a partial list of the packages and
experiences you will be able to bid on, as well as instructions on how we'll
conduct the auction itself. Please note that this list is subject to change,
so you should check out http://www.nfbmn.org/convention/auction for the
latest offerings.

I'm sure you're going to be as impressed as I am at the wonderful offerings
we have in store. I look forward to chatting with you all on Friday.

Warmly,

Ryan

2020 Convention Auction

On Friday, November 6, we invite you to join us for an evening of auction
and trivia. Details for joining the event can be found in the
<http://www.nfbmn.org/convention/agenda/friday> convention agenda.

Bidding Process

When you enter the Zoom meeting, you will be muted. After the auctioneer
announces the item for bid, raise your hand if you wish to bid at the
current price. (You can raise and lower your hand by pressing ALT+Y on a PC,
OPTION+Y on a Mac, STAR+9 on the phone, and the "Raise Hand" button in the
"More" menu on a smartphone.)

As the auctioneer continues to call for higher bids, leave your hand raised
to keep bidding; lower your hand only if the price goes higher than you wish
to bid.

If a group of people wishes to combine forces to bid on an item, the group
should determine in advance who will bid on behalf of the group. The group
should also arrange in advance how much and how each person will pay, so
that the group leader can be ready to tell that to the Treasurer when
needed.

During the auction, once the winner of the item is determined, four things
will need to be said aloud before moving to the next item, and the Treasurer
will say, "Got it," confirming that we are ready to move on.

The four pieces of information needed from the winning bidder are:

1.	Name of the winning bidder
2.	If the bid is for one person or for a group
3.	The dollar amount of the winning bid
4.	The method of payment

Anyone bidding in the auction should determine ahead of time which one they
will use. Note that if you are bidding on behalf of a group, the Treasurer
will contact you to work out the details.

*	"Pay online": The Treasurer will e-mail you a link that you can use
to pay.
*	"Credit Card/Call me": The Treasurer will call you and take your
credit card information over the phone.

In the rare case that neither of these options work for the winner, the
person should still say "call me" and the Treasurer will work with the
person to work out a solution by the time the auction ends.

The winners will need to pay for their items as soon as possible but no
later than the end of the convention on Sunday. The Treasurer will track the
winnings and payments. Unlike in previous years, there is no need to worry
about running a tab; payments will begin to be collected after the auction
ends on Friday evening.
