I’m forwarding the announcement below with all the details about this year’s Keep NFB Advancing: Give 25 campaign.

 

So far, Minnesota members have contributed about $500 toward our affiliate match. That’s a great start, but we have a long way to go to reach our full $6,000 matching commitment.

 

Every $25 contribution made by a Minnesota member through June 26 can be matched by both the Minnesota affiliate and Aira, multiplying the impact of your gift and helping support opportunities for blind people across the country.

 

If you’ve been thinking about making a contribution, now is the time. Please read the information below for complete details on how to donate and how to make sure your gift is counted toward Minnesota’s match.

Dear Minnesotans of the Federation:

 

Each year, thousands of Federation members and friends contribute before and during the National Convention to various funds that support blind people. 

For every $25 that you as a Minnesota member give to the  Keep NFB Advancing: Give 25 <https://nfb.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=45>  campaign through June 26, three things will happen: 

1.        The Minnesota affiliate will match your contribution (up to a total of $6,000) 

2.        Aira, the visual interpreting service, will match your contribution (up to a total of $25,000) 

3.        You’ll be entered into a drawing to have your convention expenses paid for next year (and just in case you can’t go, you could just walk away with $2,500 in cash!)

Your support helps bring first time attendees to the national convention, raises expectations, and expands opportunities for blind people nationwide.

You must either mail a check to the affiliate or forward us a copy of your receipt to Jennifer Dunnam ( jennifer.dunnam1829 at gmail.com <mailto:jennifer.dunnam1829 at gmail.com> ) so that the NFB of Minnesota can match your gift. Up to $6,000 from individuals is matched by up to $6,000 from the affiliate treasury!


To donate: 


1.                       Give online <https://nfb.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=45>   or call Treasurer Jenifer Dunnam at 612-203-2738 for assistance 

OR

2.                       Mail a check by following these steps:

1.                       Make the check payable not to the Minnesota affiliate but instead to the National Federation of the Blind

2.                       List the fund(s) to which you wish to contribute in the memo line

3.                       Send the check to the National Federation of the Blind of Minnesota, 2801 Hennepin Avenue S. #126, Minneapolis, MN 55408-1907. The treasurer will collect the checks until June 26, then mail all the checks, along with the affiliate's matching check, to the national office. 

Most importantly, we must receive a copy of your donation receipt or check by June 26 to be included in the Minnesota match. You should email your receipt to our treasurer, Jennifer Dunnam ( jennifer.dunnam1829 at gmail.com <mailto:jennifer.dunnam1829 at gmail.com> ) and follow up if you don’t get a confirmation reply.

Here is a little more about the four funds:

4.        White Cane Fund: These dollars go directly to the general treasury of the Federation.

5.        Kenneth Jernigan Fund: The proceeds from this fund are used to bring a number of attendees to their first national convention. It is named in honor of our former president and longtime leader to promote attendance at the national convention, where so much inspiration and learning occur. 

6.        SUN Fund: These funds are being set aside in the event that they are needed to support the Federation during difficult times. 

7.        tenBroek Fund: These dollars go to the tenBroek Memorial Fund which owns the property at 200 East Wells at Jernigan Place in Baltimore for the benefit of blind people.
