[MN-at-Large] Former State Services for the Blind Director Passes

President O'Connor asked that I convey the following:

 

We recently learned of the passing of Rick Hokanson on June 11. Rick was the
Director of State Services for the Blind in the mid 1980s.  He believed in
the capacity of blind people, and he showed this in substantive ways,
including supporting the start of BLIND Incorporated by assisting with
obtaining some grants, and more. Also, he continued to make significant
donations to the NFB of Minnesota even within the past couple of years, more
than thirty years after his retirement.  His efforts on our behalf are very
much appreciated.

 

A memorial service will be held this Friday at 11:00 AM at Mount Olivet
Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Avenue South in Minneapolis.  You can read his
