Richard Paul Hokanson Obituary
Eden Prairie - Age 84, of Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, after a fall. Born February 16, 1942, in Minneapolis, Rick graduated from Washburn High School and Gustavus Adolphus College. He spent his career with the State of MN, retiring as Director of State Services for the Blind. Rick loved his family & Gustavus - and not always in that order. He enjoyed traveling - especially annual trips to Park Rapids and Palm Springs, CA. Rick was a long suffering, yet optimistic, MN sports fan. He loved to play tennis, golf, fish and grill. Rick was generous with his time, recognizing the value of service and giving back to his friends and community. He was committed to sustaining relationships and traditions with both immediate and extended family and many, many friends. Rick was preceded in death by wife, Katherine (Nixa); parents, Samuel and Helen (Sundberg); brother Robert. 
Survived by wife, Peggy Lawrence; children Libby (Erik) Sandvick, Dan, Katie (Mike) Bismark; grandchildren Caleb, Bennett, Nora and Evan; Peggy's children, Brian (Kelly) Lawrence, Kate (Bob) Baker; and grandchildren Ryan, Jack, Sydney, Oliver & Max; sibling, Jerry (Carolyn); nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives and friends.
Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26, at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave. S., Minneapolis. Visitation 1 hour prior. 
Interment at Lakewood Cemetery following luncheon. Memorials preferred to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church or St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 8400 France Ave. S., Bloomington.
