Hi Chris,
There are a variety of lig's available and at the beginning stage keep it
simple the standard two screw metal variety will do you just fine. As
someone else said try finding longer screws or perhaps a larger lig that
fits your mouthpiece better. I have heard people talk about rotating their
reeds but never saw a real need for it. First of all it takes a good hour
of playing to get a reed broken in. Has your teacher told you to soak your
reed before playing? As far as keeping track of reeds if not on your
mouthpiece keep em in their plastic or cardboard sleeves. A lot of people
like the fibercel reeds as they do last a very long time. They do have a
slightly different feel and sound. What kind of reed and for that matter
what kind of mouthpiece are you using? Are you playing Tenor or Alto?
I have been playing on and off for almost 15 years and have probably done
everything wrong at one time or another that I could so if I can be of any
help I would be glad to.
Bill
