that's why I record as much independent;ly of a studio as possible. Also 
since I am paying for the studio time I insist on control as producer. If they 
won't abide by that I take my business elsewhere. I make it clear up front 
what my expectations are so there  is no confusion. You did get ripped off 
and there are a lot of rip off artists in the music business because we 
musicians are typically not business minded, we are artistic people. But do see 
what you can do about recording as many parts independently as you can then 
take the wav files to a reputable studio and finish the product. My bands 
previous 22 cds were done just that way. You can find them on amazon, Itunes
