but tone is essential. For example, playing Don't dream it's over without 
either a g, b, or high e string doesn't sound right. (unless maybe with an 
exotic arrangement. :)  )
True, there are many inversions of chords but there inversions because of 
tonality as well as expediency of play. Mahavishnu orchestra is not playable 
with less than 6 strings. Both dance of maya, and hope requoire everything 
to be there and in hope no inversion substitutions are possible.
