free style is a genre of music.
when talking about guitars it's basically improv.
i think you're talking about a rest stroke.
what that is a quick snappy note that rings out. you can hammer on it to make it like a tony rice sound.
if you don't know who he is you really should look him up.
great influence of mine.
remember that the rest stroke is all about timing and the write and left hands to pperfect it.
